Interlibrary Loan Services to Resume!

Interlibrary loan services are expected to resume in a limited capacity at some point before midnight on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. We kindly ask everyone to be measured in the number of requests you submit to avoid the risk of overwhelming the service and the new van delivery vendor with an extremely high volume within the first few weeks. If you have more than 3 requests, please space those requests out over 2 or 3 weeks. This will help the system to gradually resume ILL processing over the first few weeks of the service. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

For questions, please contact Maine State Library or visit this information page: https://maine-msl.libguides.com/c.php?g=1393867

What is interlibrary loan?
Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a service that enables patrons of one library to borrow materials that are held by another library. It allows libraries to share resources, facilitating the borrowing and lending of materials across different library systems. Library staff at each participating library process materials to facilitate borrowing for their library's patron and lending for other libraries' patrons. A van courier contracted by the Maine State Library delivers materials to and from participating libraries. Each participating library pays the Maine State Library for this van service for their library patrons.
